What started out as a Google search for volunteer work for my eldest daughter to aid her university application, soon turned into me getting more involved with Halliwick Penguins.
I only got away with spectating for the first pool session we attended in early 2013!
I recall a number of comments on that day about the fact that I was sitting on the side and not in the pool helping – the next week I brought my swimming trunks and haven’t looked back!
I get a great sense of satisfaction volunteering at the club; in particular I enjoy witnessing the swimmers progress and being part of it.
Keen to learn more about the Halliwick Concept and the 10-point programme, I attended a Halliwick Foundation Course in March and May of this year. This was a great experience and I am now putting what I have learnt into practice.
Wanting to be involved both in and out of the water, I offered to take on the role of Treasurer and was duly appointed on 28 May 2014.
