James Anastasi – Club Treasurer

I have been attending Halliwick Penguins Swimming Club with my son, Darius, for approximately 15 years. During that time, the club has become an important part of our lives, and has provided not only swimming opportunities, but also a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment for all of its members and families.

Darius has always thoroughly enjoyed his time in the pool, and over the years I have had the privilege of seeing the positive impact the club has on so many participants. Whether individuals are able to swim independently or require the support and encouragement of dedicated instructors and volunteers, the enjoyment, confidence, and sense of achievement gained from each session is clear to see. The club provides valuable physical exercise, helps improve coordination and mobility, and, just as importantly, offers social interaction, encouragement, and a real sense of community.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being involved with the club has been witnessing the progress and happiness of the swimmers. Every participant is supported at their own pace, and the patience, care, and commitment shown by the instructors and volunteers make a significant difference to the lives of those attending. The positive atmosphere created by everyone involved is something truly special and is greatly appreciated by both the swimmers and their families.

Having seen the tremendous value the club brings over so many years, I was honoured to accept the role of Treasurer when approached in May 2026. I felt it was an opportunity to give something back to an organisation that has meant so much to my son and to many others. Although my contribution may only be a small part of the wider work carried out by the club, I am proud to support an organisation that provides such meaningful opportunities, enjoyment, and support to so many people and their families.
