Very many congratulations to Christina Symeonides (our newly elected Chief Instructor), who was awarded the Matthew Hennessy Award for 2023, affectionately known as the ‘Penguin of the Year Award’.
The award is given in memory of Matthew Hennessy, a former instructor at the club, and Christina is pictured here [right] with Sally Hennessy, Matthew’s wife [left].
Who the award is given to each year is voted on by club members and it is given to the club member whom it is felt has contributed enormously to the club during the year, in whatever way, whether as a swimmer, instructor or helper.
