Congratulations to Debbie Fisher who has been awarded the Matthew Hennessy Award (affectionately known as the ‘Penguin of the Year’ Award) for 2022.
Matthew Hennessy was a former instructor at the club and the award was established in his memory.
Although we have not been able to present the award since 2019, it is an annual award, the recipient of which is chosen (via a secret ballot) by club members. It is an award that any member of the club can be nominated for, whether swimmer or instructor or helper, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the club.
Debbie has contributed enormously to the club throughout the pandemic and throughout 2022, managing club sessions and organising swimming galas for our swimmers. It is fair to say that without Debbie’s work, much of the swimming activity that our swimmers have been able to participate in during the pandemic and during 2022 would not have happened.
Thank you, Debbie!
